Our Tree Removal Process
Removing a tree is a careful process that prioritizes safety, efficiency, and respect for your property. Every tree and location is different, which is why our crews plan each job with precision. Here’s what you can expect when you work with Alpine:
An ISA Certified Arborist visits your property to inspect the tree and its surroundings. We’ll discuss your goals, identify potential hazards, and create a removal plan tailored to your site.
On the day of removal, our crew arrives with the right equipment for the job. If necessary, we set up protective mats and barriers when needed to minimize disturbance to your lawn, garden, or nearby structures.
Depending on the tree and location, we may use a variety of approaches:
- Crane-assisted removals for large or hazardous trees near homes, driveways, or power lines (using the Valley’s only in-house 30-ton crane).
- Technical rigging to carefully lower branches and sections of trunk in tight spaces, avoiding damage to surrounding property.
- Standard felling in open areas, where the tree can be safely brought down in one controlled cut.
Once the tree is down, we cut wood into manageable pieces, chip branches, and haul away debris. Many clients are surprised at how tidy their property looks when we’re finished—we take pride in leaving every job site clean and safe.
If desired, we’ll follow removal with stump grinding, giving you a smooth, usable space for replanting or landscaping.
Stumped About Stump Grinding?
After a tree is removed, the stump that’s left behind can be more than just an eyesore. Stumps often create obstacles in the yard, invite unwanted pests, and in some cases even try to sprout new growth. That’s why we recommend stump grinding as the final step in a removal.

Tree Removal & Stump Grinding FAQ
How do I know if a tree needs to be removed?
Signs that a tree may need removal include large cracks in the trunk, hollow or decayed wood, significant leaning, root damage, or major decline in health. If you’re unsure, our ISA Certified Arborists can perform a site inspection and provide clear recommendations.
How does stump grinding work?
We grind the stump below ground level, backfill the area with chips, and leave you with a smooth, level surface that blends naturally with your yard. For many clients, this step provides closure—turning a difficult tree removal into a fresh opportunity to reimagine the space.
Can you remove a tree close to my house, fence, or power lines?
Yes. Our team specializes in technical removals, including trees in tight or hazardous spaces. With certified crane operators, advanced rigging, and strict safety protocols, we remove trees without damaging surrounding structures.
How deep do you grind stumps?
We can grind up to 18 inches below ground level, depending on your needs. This prevents regrowth and allows you to replant grass, flowers, or even a new tree in the same area.
Will my yard be damaged by heavy equipment?
We take precautions to protect your property, including using mats and careful equipment placement. Our crews are trained to minimize impact and always perform thorough cleanup afterward.
How long does tree removal usually take?
Most residential removals are completed in a single day. Larger or more technical removals may take longer, but our crane and advanced equipment allow us to work efficiently without compromising safety.
